21st SALÃO INTERNACIONAL DO HUMOR DE LIMEIRA 2025

After two decades of partnership with public authorities, with support that was never updated, and despite being recognised by municipal law, the 21º Salão Internacional do Humor de Limeira continues in 2025 with a virtual exhibition and no institutional backing.

Still, after bringing together over 400 artists from around the world at the 20th SIHL in 2024, Editora O PIU continues its mission thanks to the precious support of the global artistic community at this moment.

With love, effort, continuity and focus, we will carry out the 21st edition in 2025. Even with limited resources, we will produce the trophies that celebrate freedom, line, laughter and critical spirit, as well as the digital certificates for our awarded artists.

This year, we also present expanded themes, with greater poetic, critical and graphic freedom — an invitation for artists to explore the world through reflection and visual intelligence. Our thanks to Mohsen Jafari – IRAN for the design of our poster and as a tribute to Iranian cartoonists for their tremendous support over the past 20 years.

We are seeking sponsors and supporters who understand the importance of this international art event and of freedom of expression. Please get in touch if you can support the production and awarding of our artists.

Very soon, the 2024 winners' certificates will be sent to the respective awarded artists. We thank everyone for their support and participation. May God the Father bless all involved in these 21 years of success, partnership, art and humour. May He bless the 21st SALÃO INTERNACIONAL DO HUMOR DE LIMEIRA 2025 and all its participants, once again bringing the mirror of life to our delight.

A fraternal and grateful embrace to all,

Roberto Bonomi

🔎 EXPANDED THEME DESCRIPTIONS FOR ARTWORK CREATION

1. “Your Power, Your History” (Women)
From global movements for gender equity to the representation of women in all spheres, this theme invites artists to reflect on the evolution of power, struggles, and triumphs of women. It’s about reclaiming narratives — with intelligence and grace.
"Your Side of the Story" — Highlighting voices, power, and the daily resistance of women.
Focus: Gender equality, motherhood, and everyday feminine genius.

2. “Blue Is the New Green” (Nature, Water and Environment)
Focusing on the planet's water crisis, rising sea levels, pollution and climate change. Humour here can be a powerful paradox — playful yet urgent.
"The Last Drop" — Water scarcity, floods, oceans of plastic, nature’s cry for help.
Focus: Environmental humour and ecological solutions.

3. “Sorry, I'm Just an AI” (Technology, AI and the Human Future)
From deepfakes to ChatGPT to dancing robot dogs on YouTube — humanity is asking: What makes us human when machines do everything?
"404: Humanity Not Found" — The failure of modern life, disconnection, and AI overdose.
Focus: Social media addiction, absurd algorithms, lost empathy, and artificial intelligence outsmarting common sense.

4. “System Errors”
We live surrounded by failures — some technological, others human, many social.
They are useless notifications, emotional freezes, forgotten passwords, buggy behavior, uncharged ideas, and dropped connections... with or without Wi-Fi.
In the midst of so many systems — operational, institutional, mental — humour might be the antivirus, or the glitch itself.
Focus: Everyday failures, error messages, modern crashes and the irony of living in a world that demands constant performance… even when the system breaks down.
What’s left when everything crashes? Laughing may be the only working command.

5. “Laughing Under Pressure” (Mental Health and Society)
The post-pandemic world has brought mental health into the spotlight. This theme invites reflection on burnout and the therapeutic culture — with depth and lightness.
"Laughing During the Collapse" — Stress, therapy, emotional survival, and the irony of modern sanity.
Focus: Self-help trends, workplace anxiety, therapy clichés, and silent struggles.

6. “The Illusion of Planet B” (Out-of-this-World: Space, Sci-fi and Politics)
Billionaires and politicians running to space, fantasies of starting over on Mars — this theme satirizes our collective desire to escape Earthly problems by looking up instead of within, and how poor leadership fails to harmonies life down here.
"Oops, Voted Again..." — Democracy, disinformation, and the political circus.
Focus: Political absurdity, populism, fake news, manipulation — and what happens when the clown wins.

7. “The Algorithm of Taste” (Culture, Trends and Meme Obsession)
What is art, what is content, and what is just another TikTok trend?
"Good Taste Has Left the Chat"
Focus: Artists can play with the thin lines between high and low culture, real and fake, fast and timeless.
